The City of Minnetrista is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Police Officer to join a well-supported and community-focused Public Safety Department. The department serves approximately 11,000 residents across nearly 30 square miles and is composed of 20 team members, including the Chief, Deputy Chief, Sergeants, Officers, Community Services Officers, and Administrative Assistants.

Position Details:

  • 2026 Salary Range: $80,334-$114,132, depending on qualifications (see 2024-2026 union contract for details.)
  • Lateral Entry: Experienced officers will enter the pay scale based on years of service.
  • Signing Incentive: Up to $6,000 for lateral candidates
  • Longevity Pay: Begins after 5 years of service
  • Health Insurance:
    • $900/month employer contribution for single coverage (covers 100%)
    • $1,500/month for family coverage (covers approximately 93%)
  • Vacation Leave: Lateral vacation accrual will be considered
  • Fitness Facility: On-site, brand new facility.
  • Workout on Duty Policy
  • Tuition Reimbursement: Up to $2,500 for eligible costs
  • Shift Schedule: Trimester bid schedule; officers receive two weekends off per month

Minimum Qualifications

  • MN POST Board licensed or license-eligible by application deadline
  • AA/AS degree in Law Enforcement
  • Valid MN driver’s license with an excellent driving record
  • Ability to pass psychological, medical, and background screenings

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Experience as a CSO or Police Officer (Lateral entry honored)
