2024 Elections

The City will hold elections in 2024 as follows:

  • Primary Election on August 13, 2024
  • General Election on November 5, 2024

City Offices on the 2024 General Election ballot will include mayor and two city council seats.

File for Minnetrista City Council

The 2024 General Election ballot on November 5 will include one Mayor seat and two City Councilmember seats whose terms expire at the end of 2024. Filings for these two positions will be accepted at city hall from Tuesday, July 30, 2024, through Tuesday, August 13, 2024 at 5:00pm. 

To file, candidates must be:

  • A citizen of the United States
  • A registered voter
  • A city resident for at least 20 days before the General Election
  • At least 21 years of age
  • Pay a $2 filing fee
  • Complete an Affidavit of Candidacy 

Terms of office are for four years. The Mayor and City Council members are elected at large.

Who can vote in Minnesota

To vote you must be:

  • A U.S. citizen
  • At least 18 years old on Election Day (16 & 17 year olds can pre-register)
  • A resident of Minnesota for 20 days
  • Not currently incarcerated for a felony conviction
  • Not under a court order that revokes your right to vote
