2025 Budget

The City’s budget only makes up a portion of your property taxes. The County and School districts, along with smaller taxing jurisdictions rely on property taxes as well.

What this Means for Residents. Homeowners should prepare for an increase in the City portion of their tax bills in 2025. For those with a median-valued home of approximately $650,000, the estimated annual increase will be around $100, which translates to about $8-$9 more per month. This estimate is based on the average valuation increase for properties.

Understanding Your Tax Bill. Typically, the City portion represents about 19-22% of your total tax bill from   Hennepin County. The 2025 preliminary tax statements, which will be sent out by Hennepin County in November, will detail how the changes apply specifically to your property.
